Benjamin Pasero
The speaker of this talk is the main developer of the well known opensource, SWT based feed-reader RSSOwl. End of 2005 the idea was born to work on a new version involving numerous new technologies, like Java 5, a real database and most important, using the Eclipse Rich Client Platform over a SWT-only solution. The team choose the EclipseCon 2007 to release a first preview version for everyone to play with and give feedback.
In this demo, Benjamin will demonstrate the most interesting aspects of the project, including the internal architecture, the user-interface with it's features and examples on how to easily extend the application using standard Eclipse-Plug-In mechanisms. He will also demonstrate how easy it is to embedd RSSOwl 2 into Eclipse, thereby enriching the IDE with a powerful newsreader. Benjamin will conclude the demo with some details on the roadmap for 2007.
