Antoine Toulmé

This tutorial presents the ongoing work regarding the BPMN modeler developed for the STP (SOA Tools Platform) project.

The presentation file is available from here.

The tutorial instructions are available from here.

Prerequisites

We address different types of people : the business analyst and the developer.

The two first parts of th tutorial can be attended by non-technical people that want a better way to draw processes. The third part is dedicated to Java developers with a strong GMF experience.

Tutorial agenda

The tutorial will be divided in three parts:

Part 1. How to use the modeler

We will draw together a small process, using the palette, the handles, to create and connect shapes.

We will talk about advanced functionalities :

Part 2. BPMN modeler tools

As part of the development of the BPMN modeler, we have implemented or reimplemented some very useful graphical features:

We will also talk about the generation API we have developed, which enables anyone to create a BPMN diagram without knowing about GMF.

We will present a generation sample that parses and transforms very basically BPEL into BPMN.

Part 3. How to reuse the modeler

We will show how to reuse the modeler from a developer standpoint.

We will :

Once again, the list is far from being exhaustive, and depends on what you want to see.

So if you have any questions or requests regarding the tutorial, feel free to send us an e-mail !

Antoine Toulmé is a software engineer working for Intalio Inc. He works on the STP BPMN modeler to provide it more extensibility. He also has an interest into the EMF Compare component.
